Frequently Asked Questions

I’m not sure what I actually need, can you help?

Of course. That’s exactly what I’m here for.

You don’t need to have everything figured out — we’ll start with a simple conversation, and I’ll guide you through what’s needed (and what’s not) in plain, easy-to-understand language.

Do I need to have everything organised before working with you?

Not at all.

Many clients come to me feeling behind or unsure where to start. I’ll help you get everything organised and bring your records up to date — without judgement or overwhelm.

How do we work together if you’re virtual?

Everything is designed to be simple and flexible.

We can communicate via email, phone, or video call — whatever works best for you. You’ll still feel fully supported, just without the need for in-person meetings.

Will you explain things so I actually understand my numbers?

Yes — always.

I don’t use jargon or complicated terms. I’ll explain things in a way that makes sense, so you feel confident and in control of your finances.

What software do you use?

I work mainly with FreeAgent and Xero.

If you’re not using software yet, I’ll help you get set up properly and show you how it works in a simple way.

Can you help if I’m behind on my bookkeeping?

Yes — and you’re definitely not alone.

I offer catch-up and clean-up services to get everything back on track, so you can move forward with clarity and confidence.

Do you help with Making Tax Digital (MTD IT)?

Yes — I can help you get set up and ready, so it feels simple rather than stressful.

We’ll make sure everything is in place well before deadlines, so you’re fully compliant and confident.

What’s the difference between a bookkeeper and an accountant?

A bookkeeper keeps your day-to-day finances organised and up to date — making sure everything is recorded correctly, reconciled, and ready when you need it.

An accountant usually steps in at the year-end to review the numbers, prepare accounts, and handle things like tax planning or submissions.

Think of it this way:

A bookkeeper keeps everything running smoothly throughout the year, and an accountant uses that information to finalise and report on it.

Both roles work closely together — and having your bookkeeping in good order makes everything much easier (and often more cost-effective) when it reaches your accountant.
